File Collaboration using SharePoint – Part Two

in SharePoint Services

since this is Part Two, I'll just repeat what I wrote in Part One...

I just love this feature! This is one of the best integration features between Office 2003/Office
2007 and SharePoint.

The task pane is named something different in Office 2003 than it is in Office 2007, but the
functionality is still the same.

These task panes allow you to access and modify content in a SharePoint site from within Office
without having to navigate to the site using your browser. The feature is available in the following
Office 2003 and Office 2007 applications: Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, OneNote, PowerPoint, and
Visio.

The Shared Workspace or Document Management task pane provides a link that will open the site in a
browser window and an Update button to refresh the site contents and displays the following tabs of
information:

1) Status
2) Members
3) Tasks
4) Documents
5) Links
6) Document Information

All of these tabs include a Get Updates button that retrieves the latest information from SharePoint
and refreshes the task pane.

Check out the Part Two video below.

Share Point is more designed for big enterprises. For SMBs with limited budget or without the necessary technical expertise, there are other better, easier and more affordable collaboration solutions. http://www.drivehq.com offers cloud Storage and Cloud IT solution, which includes online file collaboration and many other cloud IT service features.

Many people thought online collaboration means you work on something using a web browser, like Google Docs. Maybe a lot of people like Google Docs, but billions of users still like to work on their desktop software of choice, e.g. Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Adobe Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc.

You can actually collaborate with other people remotely without being forced to use web browser based applications! http://www.drivehq.com is one of the first few companies offering cloud storage, sharing and collaboration service with over million subscribers, tens of thousands of business customers. Users can easily collaborate with remote team members or external clients using their current software and DriveHQ FileManager. Multiple-user group account service is free. The group admin user can create/edit/delete/disable sub-users; share different folders to different users with different permissions. Users can double click on a remote file in FileManager to open and edit the remote file. After finished editing, just click on Save and the file will be saved instantly in a cache folder, then automatically sync-ed to DriveHQ remote storage. Other than FileManager, DriveHQ also supports WebDAV drive mapping, FTP server hosting and FTP folder, web browser based storage & sharing. DriveHQ also supports file versioning, which is very important in case of group sharing and collaboration.

http://www.drivehq.com is now offering the version 5.0 Cloud Storage and Cloud IT Solution. It can replace your file server, FTP server, email server, backup system, remote sharing and collaboration system, etc. There are no cons to our service as companies maintain control of their data; employees can continue using existing software, while at the same time, save cost and be able to remotely access, share, backup and collaborate online.

For more info, please visit: http://www.drivehq.com/. DriveHQ basic service is free.

While I disagree with you that SharePoint is only for large enterprises and not small to medium biz, I do appreciate you providing your information.
